Recipes To Create In Your Brand New Kitchen

December 2, 2020

As a small, locally-owned Gulfport homebuilder, Acadian Homes takes time to build one-of-a-kind dream homes. While working with Susan Siemiontkowski, our New Home Specialist, on your kitchen design, you will notice her expertise in finding out precisely what your wants and needs are. She will then create a plan with Mike, our builder, that takes care of your needs to ensure your kitchen goes from the blueprint to reality.

Once your kitchen is ready and inviting, it’s time to create many happy moments and memories starting with the best recipes.

Keep it Basic with the Shakes

With social distancing recommendations still in effect, you may want to cook in the kitchen and share the images with family and friends on social media. The best way to do so would be to create smoothies or milkshakes. The shakes are easy to make; place them on the marble or stone countertop to get that perfect shot. Take your pick of fruits, from watermelon to strawberries to oranges and even mangoes. Pour milk and cream in them as you whisk them up to make the best shakes.

The Hot Favorites – Pancakes

We all love to dig in some of the fluffiest of pancakes. Get two eggs, two cups of milk, a quarter cup of canola oil, half teaspoon of salt, and two spoons of baking powder. Mix these with the two cups of all-purpose flour and make it into a batter with three tablespoons of sugar.

Place the flat bottom non-stick vessel on the oven and pour the batter on it. Keep the heat in low or medium and wait for the bubbles on the sides. Flip the pancake and wait for the other side to cool. Serve it cold with maple syrup or chocolate syrup.

Mac ‘n Cheese – The Staple

If you love macaroni and want to prepare a family favorite, this is the best. Have one and a quarter whole wheat macaroni and a ¾ cup of butter, along with a ¾ cup of all-purpose flour. Get 6 cups of milk, one spoon of onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, salt, and other seasonings. Don’t forget the half cup of cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese, along with the oregano and chili flakes. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Cook the macaroni in boiling water and drain. Run under cold water to prevent the macaroni from overcooking. Melt the butter while adding the flour and then one cup of milk to the mixture. Keep stirring as you add three more cups of milk, mustard powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Add cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to taste. Let the mixture thicken with the macaroni now as you shred the cheese and remove the skillet from the heat.
