For many, buying a new home is one of the most significant investments they will ever make. Building a custom home from scratch provides the flexibility to add unique features and finishes. With your custom home built by Acadian Homes, your abode will not just compliment your lifestyle; it will also make you a hit with family and friends when it comes to entertaining.
When designing your new home and hiring a home builder, you should consider the level of customization allowed. Find the builder who can provide the features that will turn your home into everyone’s favorite place to be. Our experience with home buyers has given us insight into which essential elements will make any get-together a memorable experience.
An Open Concept Kitchen
The kitchen is known as the “heart of the home.” Family members will enter the kitchen several times a day. It is also where family and friends gather most when entertaining. When designing your home, our New Home Specialist and Builder take time to learn what is most important to you.
Today’s busy lifestyles make open concept kitchen designs the most popular. Traditional kitchens and dining spaces are out since they tend to make the rooms appear smaller and are not conducive to a conversation between areas. The open concept creates a kitchen with a larger feel making it a natural spot where people can congregate. For comfort and functionality, a large island works best. It also provides a place where people can enjoy their meal in a social setting.
Guest rooms allow you to entertain your guests overnight. When designing your home, think about how much space you would like to have in the rooms and bed size. These rooms can easily accommodate any friends or relatives visiting from out of town. It’s also a good idea to determine who will be using these rooms. Perhaps you will decide adding a bath to the room is best for those you entertain most.
Outdoor Entertaining Space
The weather on the MS Gulf Coast is pretty fantastic most of the time and many like to spend as much time soaking up the sun and enjoying the outdoors. Some entertainment features to consider when designing the space:
- A covered porch – Each of our homes comes with a covered porch on the back of the house. We try to create a spacious area to entertain and can add more if necessary. The covered space provides flexibility when entertaining and a brief rain shower won’t damper your party.
- Firepit – A fire pit can turn cool nights into family night. Our Oak Landing community has natural gas, making it a clean and efficient way to enjoy your outdoor space without having to worry about open flames and carrying firewood. Many different designs are available which can complement the other features in your outdoor space.
- Swimming Pool – There is nothing more refreshing on a summer day than a dip in the bright blue waters of your swimming pool. Acadian Homes has the team to install your new pool while your home is under construction. Imagine taking a dip after a long day of unpacking!
- Outdoor Kitchen – Another great feature to have on your back-covered patio is an outdoor kitchen. Designed like a kitchen island, it is created to coordinate with your home design. It will include a sink with hot and cold running water, a grill (you decide on the fuel – gas or charcoal) and a small refrigerator designed for the outdoors. Combine both the indoor and outdoor kitchen when entertaining and you won’t feel isolated from the party.
The final addition to your entertainer’s delight is a main floor powder room. The best location will be near the living room, kitchen or outdoor space. If you decide on a pool, consider placing a door to lead directly outside for those bathroom breaks while in a wet bathing suit.
