Decorate Your Outdoor Living Spaces for Fall

Halloween may be over, but there’s still time to decorate Gulfport MS new homes for fall. Show some Thanksgiving spirit in your outdoor decor with these fun ideas:

• Build a gourd “topiary.” Stack real pumpkins or use lightweight artificial ones from the craft store. If you use real ones, start with a sturdy planter or urn filled with gravel or soil. Place the largest pumpkin in the urn and cut off the stem. Securely attach medium pumpkin on top of it, followed by the smallest pumpkin. Alternate colors to make it more interesting. Decorate with paint, glitter, fall leaves or silk flowers.
• Plant chrysanthemums in pots or in the ground near the front porch. Put potted flowers into baskets or small metal pails for a casual farmhouse look or plant them in tall urns for a more formal look.
• Make a cheery pumpkin planter. Hollow out a large pumpkin and use it to hold a pot of chrysanthemums or a vase of cut flowers.
• Add accents in autumn shades of orange, yellow and warm reds. Try new area rugs or welcome mats on the porch, or add some colorful throw pillows to outdoor furniture.
• Repot outdoor planters and window boxes with colorful grasses, flowering kale, hardy succulents or pansies.
