When building a home that can be customized entirely, the possibilities are limitless. One of the most inexpensive ways to add your personal style and a “wow factor” to your kitchen is with a backsplash. Tile, stone, glass and metal backsplashes are available in many shapes, colors and styles.
Our Designer has added many different backsplash choices to our selections. As a rule, we recommend selecting your cabinets and granite first and then find a coordinating backsplash tile. You want to pay special attention to the pattern. Does it clash with the granite? Will it be too busy with a busy countertop I’ve chosen? Does it coordinate with your decorating scheme? Make Not to worry; our New Home Sales Specialist will help with your choices.
Besides the beauty aspect associated with backsplash tile, there are significant benefits to having one. Here are a few of the top reasons why they can benefit your rooms.
No matter which tile you decide on, a kitchen or bath backsplash protects the walls behind your sink, cooktop and counters. Kitchens sink areas are vulnerable to water damage, which can cause mold and more serious structural issues over time.
Instead of having to deal with hard to stains with primer and paint, the backsplash will catch the messes that would have ended up on the wall. There are many choices in our Design Showroom; some are impervious to stains, while others will require occasional maintenance with a protective sealer. Stone is pretty durable, yet it is very porous. Plan to seal it at least once a year to prevent staining.
The right backsplash will also lessen the time you spend cleaning. Tile and glass are usually easy to clean by wiping it down with a sponge or damp cloth. Glass and metal are other examples of those which can be cleaned with little effort. If your stone or brick (porous) materials are adequately sealed, clean up will be a breeze.

There’s nothing quite as exciting as putting your personal touches into a custom home design.
